How to Make Easy DIY Donuts

Whether you're throwing a donut themed party, or looking for another party snack, these easy DIY donuts are perfect for your next event. No need for a deep fryer, these donuts are baked in the oven! 

Makes approx. 12 donuts or 24 mini donuts.

Ingredients

2 cups flour 
3/4 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder 
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Pinch of salt
3/4 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Utensils

Large donut tray or mini donut tray
Bowl
Wooden spoon
Whisk
Piping Bag
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 220 degrees celsius. Spray the donut tin to ensure the batter does not stick. 
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt.
  3. Add in the buttermilk, eggs and melted butter and beat until mixture is just combined.
  4. Spoon mixture into piping bag and pipe batter into donut tin until they are 2/3 full.
  5. Bake for 7-9 minutes, until a toothpick is clean when removed.

Cinnamon Sugar Donuts

Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix the cinnamon and sugar together in a bowl
  2. Dip the warm donuts into the melted butter
  3. Coat the donut in the cinnamon sugar mixture and enjoy!

Glazed Donuts

Ingredients

1 cup icing sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence 
Few drops of food colouring (optional). See our range of food colouring here.

Instructions

  1. Whisk the ingredients together until smooth.
  2. Dip the cooled donut in the mixture.
  3. If desired, add sprinkles onto the glaze immediately and then leave to set.
