A galaxy cake is a must-have dessert that will truly impress your guests at your Star Wars or Space party. This stunning cake is inspired by the night sky complete with edible stars. With a few simple steps, you can create a galaxy cake that is out of this world!
You Will Need:
- A cake that has been crumb coated and chilled
- A batch of vanilla buttercream
- Food Colouring: black, pink, blue, purple
- Icing Scraper
- Stiff Bristled Brush
- Edible Glitter Stars
- Silver Sprinkles
How to:
- Apply and smooth out a layer of buttercream icing to the cake, then chill in the fridge for 20 minutes.
- Mix a space-themed colour palette by adding one tablespoon of buttercream to a bowl and set this aside. Then divide the remaining between four bowls. Mix pink into one bowl, blue into another, purple in the third and black into the last bowl.
- Add a few dabs of the pink buttercream icing onto the top and sides of the cake before smoothing out. Repeat with the purple and blue until your cake has a nice watercolour finish.
- Next add the black buttercream and continue to smooth out until the colours underneath are only just peering through. Set in fridge.
- Thin out the reserved buttercream with a dash of water and use a brush to splatter it on the cake for a starry effect.
- Finally, add some stars and clusters of silver sprinkles to top off your galaxy!
