What is Build a Birthday?


Build a Birthday is a unique business providing a complete party solution for busy parents, with the ease of purchasing on-line. You can order the party in minutes, ready to run. 

Purchasing

How do I purchase on Build a Birthday?
Build a Birthday want to help you create hassle free fun. No more rushing around different stores, just visit our on-line store or phone us.

Take a look around our website. You can shop by theme or party product.

When you see something you would like to purchase, click on "Add to cart" button. Continue to do this until you have everything you want. You can move around themes and products categories if you like.

Hint: If you cannot decide between two products, simply add both to the shopping cart, as you can delete items later before payment.

Once you are satisified that you have all the products that you need, click on the shopping cart. Please select the appropriate delivery charge and enter your credit card details for payment.

If you would like to pay by cash or direct debit into our bank account, please phone us to make your order.

How do I go about booking an entertainment box?
Entertainment boxes can be hired similar to product purchases, however a booking form is also required to ensure availability on the party date. Usually the booking form is completed prior to purchasing allowing Build a Birthday time to confirm availability. Should you purchase prior to Build a Birthday confirming availability, and for some reason it is not, we can suggest an alternative date, box or provide a full credit. 

What if I have more than eight party guests?
We can cater for any number of children. With the entertainment boxes simply select additional numbers using the "extra costume product". We recommend that you complete a booking form to ensure availability, prior to purchase. Please feel free to contact us for any special requirements.

I am looking for specific products but can't find them on your website?
Please let us know  what products you are interested in and we will do our best to find them for you.

Can you customise a party for me?
Yes, we are happy to discuss ideas and provide a quote. Please contact us.

Do you run parties?
Yes we can and are happy to discuss your needs and provide a quote. Please contact us.

When is my booking confirmed?
Your booking will be confirmed on receipt of payment. The entertainment boxes and any ordered products will be delivered a day or two prior to the party.

Delivery

How quickly will I receive my order?
Orders are dispatched within 24 hours of receipt of payment. Delivery to your door is within 3 days (excluding Saturday, Sunday or Public Holidays). Entertainment boxes and other party items are delivered a couple of days prior to the party, where sufficent time has been allowed. If urgent delivery is required please phone us.

Will you courier to a PO Box address?
A street address is required for delivery.

Which courier company do you use?
We use Fastway Couriers and New Zealand Post.

Where do you deliver to?
Anywhere in New Zealand with pick-up available in Roseneath, Wellington. See our map.

Can I pay for return delivery on hired items?
Yes. Simply purchase the relevant prepaid courier voucher from our on-line shop.

Who is responsible for damaged or lost items?
Build a Birthday carefully packages each items to ensure it arrives safely to your door. We are not responsible for items that are lost or damaged in transit. This includes items where the incorrect address has been supplied.

Refund Policy

What is your refund policy?
Build a Birthday  provides a refund on purchases where items are defective and cannot be replaced, in line with rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

What is the bond for?
A refundable bond is charged with each entertainment box and hired item. Providing box contents or items are returned by the agreed date, in reasonable condition, your bond will be refunded. The bond can be applied against late return, extraordinary cleaning, repair or replacement costs for lost or damaged items. A cancellation fee equivalent to the bond amount maybe retained on bookings cancelled within 7 days of the party date. Changing the booked box is considered a cancellation, unless within 2 working days of the original booking date.

General

What is your birthday club?
Children aged 1 - 13 can join our Birthday Club. Club Members win prizes, receive information on new products and services and receive special offers. These include:

- Club members receive a birthday present to the value of $25 when an entertainment box or products of the same value are purchased. This offer is not to be used in conjunction with other offers and is for new clients.
- Parents will receive free party invitations, when an entertainment box or products of the same value are purchased more than two weeks prior to the party date.

What is your Privacy Policy?
Your privacy is guaranteed on our site. We do not pass on any information on our customers to anyone else.
You may contact us at any time to check the personal information that we have and amend it if required in line with the Privacy Act (1993). Please refer to our privacy policy for more information.
